Case Study 1: EcobuildCase study 1: Ecobuild

The world’s biggest event for sustainable design, construction and the built environment, was acquired by UBM, in July 2011. The original show was launched in 2005 by David Wood and Moira Edwards whose steadfast focus on providing an engaging event experience and unrivalled free to attend conference content has created a market leading event brand – and stellar growth figures to match. Growing from humble beginnings, with 50 exhibitors and 1000 visitors at the launch event, to over 1300 exhibitors and 55,000 visitors in 2011.

Case Study 2: The Concrete ShowCase Study 2: The Concrete Show

In June 2010, United Business Media acquired a 75% stake in Sienna Interlink, a Brazilian exhibition company based in Sao Paulo. Founded in 2005, Sienna’s main asset is the Concrete Show South America, the region’s largest concrete industry tradeshow.

The Concrete Show is held each August in Sao Paolo and serves suppliers of concrete and cement equipment and machinery, building systems, materials, additives, tools and related services. It also offers an extensive education program, supported by leading national and international building institutes and associations.

Case Study 3: Lead-In ResearchCase study 3: Lead in Research

UBM acquired Lead in Research (LIR), a boutique sales leads business in November 2010, from its founder, Mark Hurley. The consideration will be satisfied by an initial cash payment of £1.15 million with a further deferred performance-related consideration of up to £300,000, payable at the end of 2010.
